This study examines the effect of pin drum design parameters on the removal of fine trash from seed cotton. Pin diameter, radial length, row pitch, drum diameter, rotational speed, and working clearance were considered as the principal factors. Cleaning performance was evaluated using trash removal efficiency, fiber loss, seed damage, and specific energy consumption. A factorial experimental design and regression analysis were used to describe the interaction between pin penetration depth and repeated impact frequency. The analysis indicates that cleaning efficiency increases within a limited operating range, whereas excessive speed and insufficient clearance increase fiber loss and seed damage. A rounded pin tip, staggered rows, moderate rotational speed, and adjustable clearance provide a balanced technological regime. The proposed approach can support the design and adjustment of cotton cleaning machines operating with variable raw-material conditions.
