Abstract

This study examines the outcomes of media system reforms in the United Kingdom and their impact on the practice of investigative journalism. Based on an analysis of parliamentary and regulatory approaches applied in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Uzbekistan, the paper explores issues of professional responsibility, freedom of the press, principles of media accountability, and citizen participation in shaping the information environment. Particular attention is paid to the role of digital technologies and platforms in contemporary media practice. The author concludes that the effectiveness of investigative journalism depends not only on the degree of formal press freedom but also on the condition of civil institutions, professional editorial culture, and the level of public trust in the media.
